Axolotl is an interactive installation based on a life-like algorithmic animation of creatures responding to the presence of observers. The project is an exploration of the possibilities to portray life through motion and form.
Developed in Processing, the creature of Axolotl is projected on a fish tank and its movement is affected and modified according to the presence of people in front of it. A camera hidden on the back of the fish tank detects and keeps track of people's faces and position. The creature tries to hide from people, by getting smaller and moving on the opposite side of the tank.
